Hello Leopards,
We are pleased to announce classes resume at normal times tomorrow! Over the past week and a half, icy/snowy weather and flooded bus routes posed safety concerns. Your safety is our top priority, and we appreciate the understanding and patience shown by our amazing community during this unpredictable time.
A huge shoutout to our incredible community for your understanding, cooperation, and support as we navigated through these safety concerns. Your patience has been instrumental in ensuring the well-being of our students and staff.
Together, we've weathered the storm, and your collaboration has truly warmed our hearts.
As we prepare to return to the classrooms, we express our deepest gratitude for your resilience and cooperation. Here's to a fantastic rest of the school year filled with learning, growth, and community spirit. Don't forget to secure the B.A.G.! (Behavior, attendance, grades!)

Hello Leopard Family,
There will be no school for Malvern today, January 24, 2024. We have too many routes that are covered with water. There is a 100% chance of more rain at 6:00 am.
We also have several faculty members who live in some flooded areas and are not able to drive in this morning.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Please be safe if you must drive through any of those flooded areas.

Hello Leopard Family,
Malvern School District will be open tomorrow, January 24, 2024; however, we do have some flooded areas that are not safe for our buses. Our buses will not drive through water.
If your child rides one of the following buses (17, 23, 47, 51, 46, 4, 39) in a flooded area, you will need to provide transportation to and from school on January 24, 2024. If you cannot get your child to and from school, your child will be allowed to make up all missed work without a penalty. Safety is our top priority and we appreciate your understanding.
Specific problem areas include, but are not limited to, Grisby Ford Road, Country Club Road, Sulphur Springs Road, Ridge Road, and other low lying areas that may develop over night.
It has been a rough January. Please know we will always make safety our first priority. If you have questions about makeup work, please contact your child’s teacher. Thank you, Leopards!

🚨 URGENT MESSAGE 🚨
SEVERE FLOODING:
PARENTS, there is severe flooding on county and city roads that is heavily affecting bus routes. Affected Bus #'s are 46, 51, 4, 47, 23, 39, 17. If your child rides any of these bus numbers, please call the school by 3 and tell the school secretaries which children will NOT be on the buses. The city and county has closed several roads. Some children may be sent back to buildings if the bus cannot travel down their road. Please call the buildings ASAP to avoid this.

Wilson Intermediate students Olivia Roseberry and Layla Rock were awarded $100 from the Time For Change Youth Challenge sponsored by First Book and Ashoka. Their STEM project, Green Clean, was one of nine Early Entrant winners and the only sixth grade winner. As part of the prize, the school was awarded $100 in free books.
As Early Entrants, they received valuable suggestions for improving their project before the final deadline in January. The pair are also awaiting the results of two other STEM competitions they entered. For each competition, the girls were allowed to work as a team but had to enter as individuals. They graciously decided to share any prizes they receive.
Green Clean is a container to collect tangled monofilament line to keep it off the ground and away from harming people and wildlife. Oliva has firsthand experience with the problem since she’s had a fishing hook that was thrown on the ground stuck in her foot. Layla and Olivia plan to make the containers from entirely recycled materials including leftover PVC pipe from local plumbers. As part of their research, they have met with representatives from Arkansas Game and Fish to improve their design and discuss ways to place Green Clean containers in state parks and popular fishing areas around the state.

Congratulations to Layla Rock! She is an Early Entry Prize Winner in the Time for Change Youth Challenge competition. Layla was awarded a $100 gift certificate for her proposal. Layla was one of only 10 entries nationwide to be awarded the prize and the only 6th grader. She is now moving on to the next round which comes with a $1,000 prize. Layla submitted a plan to help with the problem of monofilament pollution by building Green Clean Machines to install in state parks and popular fishing areas. Layla has been working on this project with Oliva Roseberry since Beta Leadership Summit in October. Way to go Layla!
